  • This model is a working example of the fly ball governor developed and patented by George Stearns and William Hodgson, of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1852. According to the patent documents, “The advantage gained by constructing a governor after this plan, consists in its simplicity and cheapness, composed with common methods usually employed of building governors, the quadrants and cylindrical rack before mentioned do away with levers, axes and collars which are found to be much more expensive than the rack and its attachments”
  • This model is an excellent demonstration tool or conversation piece to decorate your desk. The detailed drawing package covers machining and assembly of an eight inch tall model based on the patent model of the Stearns and Hodgson fly ball governor, patent number 9236.
