- Drawings to build a scale model of the oscillating steam engine patented by W.S. MacIntosh and James Hemphill January 17, 1860 where they operated the North Pit Foundry, in Pittsburg, PA. The engine was built there along with other heavy equipment for the steel mills in the area. The M&H model is an easy to build and easy to adjust model of an actual engine. An excellent kit for the model engineer who is not ready for the more complicated kits but still wants to build working models of real steam engines. The engine would have been used in light duty applications where reliability and low service requirements were important factors
